Pioneering Human Form Recognition technology is only part of the solution. The people using, installing and supporting it are what make it work. Safety Shield is pioneering the use of Human Form Recognition (HFR) technology to reduce People-Plant Interface risk. Now, we’re pioneering the learning and development needed to maximise its impact. Our learning solutions are designed to build confidence in your people’s knowledge, skills and behaviours, helping your workforce understand how HFR works, where it adds value and how to work effectively alongside it. From workforce awareness through to technical installation and internal expertise, we provide structured learning pathways that support successful adoption, build operational competence and create the internal capability needed to deploy HFR at scale. Our courses are endorsed by globally recognised institutes, giving organisations confidence that their people are developing knowledge and skills through credible, industry-recognised learning. Because successful technology deployment starts with confident, capable people.

Sustain It- For trainers, champions and data specialists
Assured City & Guilds
Our Human Form Recognition Technician Programme is Assured by City & Guilds, giving you confidence that your teams are trained to a recognised industry standard. By building certified in-house installation teams, businesses can improve installation efficiency, reduce reliance on external contractors, and maintain consistent quality across every project. The course can be seamlessly integrated into existing fitting protocols, making it easy to add Human Form Recognition installation to current workflows. It also supports efficient fleet-wide rollouts and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) programmes, helping organisations deliver faster, more consistent installations at scale.

NOCN Group Endorsed HFR Plant Proximity Safety Programme
Safety Shield Global is an NOCN Group Approved Centre, delivering the NOCN Group Endorsed Programme in Human Form Recognition (HFR) Plant Proximity Safety.
As the sole UK provider of this endorsed HFR training programme, we are helping organisations build a stronger understanding of People-Plant Interface risk and the role Human Form Recognition technology can play in creating safer worksites.
Designed to raise standards, improve workforce understanding and support safer behaviours, the programme brings together our pioneering HFR expertise with recognised, quality-assured learning.

Awareness- On-site Demonstrations and Toolbox Talks
Description
Awareness demonstrations and toolbox talks play a vital role in strengthening understanding of human form recognition and its impact on site safety. By combining real-world scenarios with practical guidance, these sessions help teams recognise how technology detects human presence, movement, and risk in dynamic environments. They also reinforce safe behaviours, highlight potential blind spots, and build confidence in using Safety Shield systems effectively.

Awareness- NOCN Assured Human Form Recognition (HFR) Plant Proximity Safety
Description
The course aims to provide learners with an understanding of Human Form Recognition systems and how they support safer interaction between people and plant on site. Human Form Recognition (HFR) systems are used to support People-Plant Interface safety by detecting human presence within defined zones around plant and providing real-time alerts to operators and people on the ground.
This course will benefit to both newly qualified and experienced workers in industrial worksites using heavy machinery.
The outline, structure and content of this course is assured by NOCN Group. SSafety Shield is an approved centre to deliver this programme and to train centres (please see expert level)
Who is this aimed at?
Operators
Ground staff
Supervisors
All industries

Half day classroom based course:
• Introduction & People-Plant Interface Risk & Why HFR Exists
• Principles of Human Form Recognition
• HFR System Components
• Detection Zones & Configuration
• Digital Thumbs Up (DTU) System
• System States & Alerts
• System Limitations & Environmental Effects
• Event Data, Transparency & Behaviour

Practitioner- Human Form Recognition (HFR) Technician Programme Assured by City & Guilds
Description
This 4-day highly interactive programme, offering a mix of classroom and on-machine training, provides technicians with all the knowledge and skills required to install, repair, maintain, calibrate and complete pre delivery inspections using the Safety Shield G4 system.
By the end of the programme, technicians will be able to:
Identity the key components needed to install the Safety Shield G4 system
Complete a full Safety Sheild G4 installation, supported by colleagues and the trainer
Describe the process of registering the installed components with NEXUS
Complete an unaided, assessed full installation (machine, camera placement and wiring runs)
Complete a selection of repairs and maintenance
Calibrate the machine
What does this course entail?
Introduction to Safety Shield
A first look at the system (whats in the box)
Deep dive into the system and what it can do? (unlocking the potential)
Powers and wiring looms
Supported first install of the HFR system
Supported HFR installation continues and completed on machine
Introduction to Digital Team and NEXUS; completing the install registration process
Begin unaided installation and recording of learning outcomes have been reached on physical installs
Complete the repair and maintenance activities to show full understanding of the system
Complete final install unaided and have machine, camera placements and wiring runs assessed by trainer
Complete the calibration process
Written assessments
What is the assessment?
Technicians will need to attend all 4-days of the programme and pass a number of practical assessments and complete a written test. If a technician fails any element, they will not be able to install, maintain, repair or calibrate the system unaided.
Once qualified, all new technicians will be audited as they complete their installs, with feedback and further checks and tests.
How is this course delivered?
Each training day is approx. 0800-1600, with morning and afternoon breaks and a break for lunch. The pre-requisites for the workshop are as follows:
Good working knowledge of plant and machinery
Good understanding of the English language, as are all training materials, such as workbooks, handouts and examination documentation are written in English
Good working knowledge of A/C, D/C electrical components on plant and machinery
Be proficient in using multiple hand tools to conduct works, including panel removal and fixing components to the machinery
Be in good physical health, as installations require learners to be able to climb and bend to access all areas of the machinery during servicing and maintaining
The programme can be delivered at Safety Shield Global’s Head Office in Winsford, or it can be delivered on a site of your choice; we can provide details of the options available and site pre-requisites. We will also provide you with a list of what the technician needs to bring to the programme, such as laptop, tools/equipment, etc.
